Fanatics Sportsbook NC Partners With The Carolina Hurricanes

Fanatics Sportsbook NC has inked a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes ahead of the launch of North Carolina online sports betting.

The move was announced Friday and first reported by Sports Business Journal. It makes Fanatics the fourth sportsbook to enter such a required partnership ahead of the industry opening its virtual doors.

More on the partnership

All North Carolina online sports betting operators must partner with an in-state professional sports team or league. That’s part of HB 347, the legislation signed by Gov. Roy Cooper in June of 2023.

Fanatics NC joins bet365, ESPN BET, and FanDuel NC in having secured a deal with one of those partners. Those operators joined forces with the Charlotte Hornets, Quail Hollow Club, and the PGA Tour, respectively.

More partnership news is expected to come over the next week and a half. NC online sports betting regulators have requested applications to be submitted by Wednesday, Dec. 27, so operators can launch on the first day of business.

At a meeting of the North Carolina Lottery Commission last week, regulators said 14 operators had submitted applications for licenses. In addition to the above-mentioned online sportsbooks, that list likely includes BetMGM NC, Caesars Sportsbook NC, and DraftKings NC.

We still don’t know everything about NC online sports betting yet. Specifically, the Commission has not announced a date for the industry to go live.

We do know North Carolina online sports betting won’t be up and running ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, and that things must get started by June 14, 2024. That’s the one-year anniversary of when HB 347 was signed into law.

When the industry does launch, it will likely do so with an array of NC online sports betting promos for new users. Stay tuned to Winners and Whiners for news, updates, and information as its “go live” date draws closer.
