Purdue vs. Grambling State Matchup

Purdue (29-4) finished the regular season at the top of the Big Ten standings with a 17-3 record. However, they’re looking for redemption after losing in the first round of last year’s tournament to 16th-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson. They also lost in this year’s conference tournament in the semifinals to Wisconsin 76-75 in overtime.

Senior All-American center Zach Edey tops the Boilermakers with 24.4 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. Point guard Braden Smith is second on the team in rebounding with 5.8 per game and leads Purdue with 7.3 assists and 1.6 steals per contest. He’s also second in scoring, averaging 12.5 points.

The Tigers, on the other hand, began the regular season with a 2-10 record. However, they turned things around by winning 18 of their last 22 games. This propelled them into first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They went on to win the title with a 75-66 victory against Texas Southern.
