With the College Football Playoffs kicking off this Monday, the NFL has an appealing Saturday Night contest between two NFC contenders. The Detroit Lions (11-4) will take on the Dallas Cowboys (10-5), with Dallas favored by 5.5-points.
The Cowboys have dropped their last two games, but are a perfect 7-0 at home this season. The Lions have clinched the NFC North Division, but still have a shot at the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

The Cowboys have gotten by all season mauling teams at home but then falling flat on the road. They return home here against the Lions expecting a similar outcome. The Lions, however, do something that the Cowboys have had trouble against all season; run the football. The Cowboys are just 18th in the NFL stopping the run and the Lions possess a two-headed monster in the backfield of Gibbs and Montgomery. The Lions have also proven to be a worthy road opponent this season with a record of 5-2 away from home. They’ve had just two tough outings all season on the road, a blowout loss at Baltimore and a turnover-plagued loss at Chicago.
The Lions’ defense let them down in those two losses but I’m confident they’ll be ready to play on Saturday night with a chance to keep their hopes alive for the top seed in the NFC. The Lions are also 3-1 in prime-time games this season so they will not be uncomfortable playing in Dallas on Saturday night. The Cowboys have been playing with fire all year with their up-and-down play at home and on the road. They could squeak out a win but it’ll be tight. I’m taking the points in this game with a hungry Lions team.
