UCF vs Kansas Game Preview
The UCF Knights were excited to make their debut in Big 12 Conference play, they went into Kansas State on a three game win streak, but got sent home with a 25 point loss. UCF only scored 19 points in the first half and trailed by as many as 35 creating a deficit that was insurmountable. UCF will be happy to return to their home floor where they are 7-2 on the season. Against Kansas State, UCF was led by guard Darius Johnson with 10 points in the loss.
The Knights are led in scoring by 6’4 junior guard Jaylin Sellers with 17.8 PPG while adding 4.5 RPG. He had scored in double figures every game this season up until the last game where the Kansas State defense helped him to eight points on 3-13 shooting. Sellers dropped 34 points earlier this season in their loss to Stetson. Darius Johnson runs the point guard spot as a 6’1 junior guard, he leads the team in assists at 3.5 per game while scoring 13.9 PPG. Johnson is the top shooter on the team with 24 made threes on 38.1% shooting. Marchelus Avery is their final scorer in double figures, he is a 6’7 senior forward adding 10.6 PPG. Their big man inside is Ibrahima Diallo, he is a 7’0, 245-pound center out of Senegal who leads the team in rebounding at 6.1 per game while scoring 6.0 PPG.
UCF is currently ranked 86th overall in KenPom. They are much better defensively where they rank 26th in efficiency, while their offense only ranks 182nd. The Knights play faster than the Jayhawks, UCF ranks 59th in the nation in pace of play.
